Welcome to the Al Ain Golf Club

The members of the Al Ain Golf Club would like to offer you a unique experience in Al Ain.  The first and only sand Golf Club in the Al Ain area.  We have a well maintained 18 hole golf course and flood lit driving range.  You don't need to be a member to play golf here, but you'll save a lot of money and give us much needed support if you decide to sign up.  Our membership rates are very modest and you can sign up from September 1st until the following end of August.  If you come late to Al Ain, we offer discounts depending on the month you sign up after the new year.  What you save while being a member more than covers the cost of signing up.  We offer much more than golf though.

The Al Ain Golf Club has been around a long time.  We have a great group of member and we've really grown a lot these last couple of years.  We're not done yet though and we'd like to welcome new members and your enthusiasm to our little club at the edge of the desert.

We have the first and only sand golf course in Al Ain - 18 great holes of desert golfing.  In the past we've had an Open Invitational every year and we're aiming for one again this November 2013.  We have a flood lit driving range and a climate controlled club house when the heat gets to be just a bit too much.  Inside the club we offer a large screen television for sporting events, regulation sized snooker table and some of the nicest people you'd care to meet in Al Ain.  Outside we've built a large playground for the kids, not to mention a huge area where they can run around and be safe and secure.  Close enough to know they're there, but far enough away to not drive us nuts.

Our outdoor seating area

Cooking facilities include the only outdoor wood fired pizza oven in Al Ain.  We routinely host BBQ's the on the Last Thursday of the Month.  We have the cooking facilities in place to make your private party a unique event in Al Ain.  We have a pizza night at least once every month were you bring all your own supplies and we'll cook your pizza for you.  Recently we have excelled at hosting parties for children.  It's a great place where the kids entertain themselves and the adults entertain each other.  Our state of the art sound system can play from your iPod or we can help arrange live entertainment from our House Band.

The new grass and playground
We want to provide you with an alternative golfing venue and a truly rare social experience where you can relax in our natural environment and experience a quiet peaceful time.  We're a retro club that keeps an eye toward a green feel even though we're on the edge of the desert.  We recycle, we reuse and we make do with what we have.  If you have a great sense of humour and like interesting people from all walks of life, this might be the place for you.  We encourage both families and singles to come out and experience what we have to offer.  Check out the rest of our blog for more information.  If you want to contact us directly, our email is at the bottom of the page.

See you at the GC!
Come and check out the Club.  You may like what you see.  If you do, sign up and welcome to the family.

Your family is welcome at the GC!

EXPANDING OUR INFRASTRUCTURE

Over the last couple of years we've tried to improve the club in many ways.  In an effort to promote our community spirit we've focused on doing things that bring people together.  What better way to do that than with food!  We've built a BBQ and Outdoor Wood Fired Pizza Oven.  All of our building has been on a volunteer basis and that only adds an extra level of community spirit that we love to see.

Our playground for the children has been a welcomed addition to the GC.  Ben du Toit built this wonderful structure for all the kids to enjoy.

We are always looking for ways to improve the GC.  If you have an idea that you'd like to see through to fruition, tell us about it, but more importantly - donate your time and expertise to make it happen.

BOOKING THE CLUB FOR PRIVATE PARTIES

We're all young at heart

We are unique in Al Ain in that we have an established facility on the East end of town with all the amenities and lots of room to roam around, all in a friendly and private setting.

The GC has always been a great place to host a party.  For a very modest fee you can pretty much have the run of the place.  Recently we've really been the best place in Al Ain to host parties for children.  Last year we built a playground for the kids.  We've had lots of people whine at the golf club, but it's usually not from the children.  Aside from the playground, there's lots of room for the little ones to run around and get their energy spent.  Our facilities allow for a safe and friendly environment for your children to do what they do best - just be themselves.  Four out of five children rate the GC as the bestest place is Al Ain to act like a little animal.

It's also the only place in Al Ain where the adults can book an exclusive private party.  Rates are reasonable (even better if you're a member) and we supply all the necessary staff to make your event memorable and hassle free.  We have a state of the art (c. 1966) sound system and if you fancy yourself musically gifted you can prove it at the GC.  When you book the club for a private function you not only get the privacy you require, you get access to all our cooking facilities - a BBQ big enough to easily feed 40+ people and the only outdoor wood fired pizza oven in town.  In the past we've hosted wedding receptions, children's birthday parties, 40th birthday parties, open houses, band nights and just about anything else you can imagine.  Where else can you feel like you're having a party at home without the bother of cleaning up after yourself?  Only here, and we welcome you anytime.

"I wish I was a member!"

Kids love the GC.  A big playground and lots of room to run around.  It's great to have a place to have a party and if you use the pizza oven it opens a whole new experience for a day they'll remember.

Menu to include, but not limited to Fresh Blue Crab, Fresh Large Prawns, Boiled Corn and tasty Potatoes.  Bring your own flat bread or rolls if you like.  We'll have homemade seafood sauce and garlic butter.  The first cook off will be ready around 1700, but the chef's will keep cooking until you all get full or we run out of crustaceans.

It promises to be an afternoon you won't want to miss - truly unique for Al Ain.  Of course the playground is all set for your kids and there'll be plenty of entertainment for the adults too.  Cajun music, cooking and hospitality from a couple of genuine Southerners.  The GC endeavours to expand your cultural experience once again.

We'll have the grill on as well if you'd like to bring something for your kids or would like to join us but want to eat something that normally resides above sea level.

Tell your friends, tell your family.  We'd love to see you all out at the GC.  Forward this email to anyone you'd like to share the day with.

LAST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH BRAAI/BBQ

We have been supporting old traditions at the Al Ain Golf Club for a long time now.  Every once in awhile we're able to offer something new that becomes a tradition of it's own.  In the last year we've been having our Last Thursday of the Month Braai/BBQ on a regular basis.  Sometimes it's fairly intimate, other times there's a quite a crowd.  For the new members or the old members that haven't been out in some time we'll just remind you of how we do it.

We're very laid back.  Very.
Before sunset on the last Thursday of every month we fire up our stone grill.  The club supplies the charcoal, music, venue and excuse for all of you to come and join us for a friendly community meal.  You supply the steak and we supple the sizzle.  Join us for a sun downer and let the kids run wild on the playground.  The Al Ain Golf Club is all about promoting the fellowship of mankind.  You, your friends and your family are always welcome at the GC.  It's a very relaxed evening and you won't break your budget if you join us for some good stories.  There's always someone in the crowd who'll regale you with a story or two and we really like it when someone shows up who can entertain us as well. There are no shortage of characters that frequent the GC, you might be the next one.

The Last Thursday of the Month Braai/BBQ is a set monthly event.  It's as simple as showing up with what you'd like to cook and then sit back and enjoy the evening.  GC Members enjoy discounts on beverages as well as our appreciation for supporting the Club on a long term basis.  You don't need to be a member to enjoy the club, but it's cheaper and your support is always encouraged.  We encourage your support.

The usual suspects

We always remind people of upcoming events via our email.

See at the GC!

You bring the grub and help support the Club.

PIZZA NIGHT Now each and  every Thursday till summer 2013

Pizza nights are going to be on a fixed date - the 2nd Thursday of every month.

Many of you are new to the Golf Club and how we conduct our Pizza Nights.  It's pretty simple.  Anyone can pick up the phone and get a pizza delivered here in Al Ain.  What you usually get is a preservative filled base and toppings that are less than fresh.  It might barely satisfy your needs and rarely are you left feeling like you've just had a great pizza.  We want to change that for you.  The best way to get a great pizza is to make it yourself.  Take a little time before hand and make your own dough, prepare your own fresh sauce and of course, come with your own fresh toppings.  We have all the rest: A preheated wood fired pizza oven, all the serving and preparation trays and of course dozens of opinionated experts to assist your pizza cooking experience.  It's really not that much work, it just takes a bit of planning.

We've included some links below that give you some recipes on how to make your own bases.  It's not as tough as it looks and it should only take about 30 minutes or so.  You can use anything you want for your sauce, but it isn't too much trouble to make your own either.  The rest of the toppings are just what you'd like to try out.  Everyone has been making their own, and we've seen a nice variety of taste and style...that's what it's all about - celebrating our diversity and ingenuity.  When it comes to topping the pizza up, less is more.  A moderately thick base and not too many toppings make it easier to get the pizza in and out of the oven in once piece.  We can cook it for you, but after a couple of times standing around and watching us do it, you'll want to grab the peel and have a go yourself.
Our First Pizza

We have had lots of people making really great pizzas the last couple of times we've had the oven fired up.  We encourage everyone to come out and show us your style.  There's usually enough that we can share our favorites.  Bring the kids too, we're running out of cool weather, so the playground is a great reason to get them out while you still can.

As always, bring your friends and family...everyone is always welcome.

See you on the 2nd Thursday of every month.
